Large scale waste-heat recovery,
Dotternhausen, GERMANY

Customer: Hoffmeier Industrieanlagen

Year of completion: 2026

Provided service: Concept, basic and detail engineering of the waste-heat recovery ducts and supporting structures.

Cement industry operations being exceptionally energy-intensive makes them not only vulnerable in light of an approaching energy crisis, but also responsible for the significant carbon footprint.

Innovations are aimed at energy efficiency mitigate both problems simultaneously.
We were involved in the realization of one of these innovations: a large-scale waste heat recovery project. These projects turn the previously unused waste heat of the operations into self supply for the cement plant’s local heating network, as well as generating electricity.

Our assignment consisted of designing a tall and slender steel structure, that connected to the already existing preheater-tower with a bridge, and served as a supporting structure for the new machinery. We were also responsible for the design of the service walkways, to approach and to carry out maintenance of the equipment.

Total amount of steel designed: 650 tons
